More than 1 million Palestinians, roughly half of Gaza’s population, have fled their homes in Gaza City and other places in the northern part of the territory since Israel told them to evacuate ahead of an expected ground invasion. The Kindle Edition of The Wall Street Journal contains articles found in the print and online editions, but will not include tables and stock quotes. Thousands of people, from both sides, have been killed or injured. 7 after Hamas launched a deadly incursion into southern Israeli towns. The latest Israel-Hamas war began on Oct. The director of Shifa, Gaza’s largest hospital, said he thought the toll was closer to 250, the AP reported on Wednesday. The staff at al-Ahli said only that the toll was in the hundreds. The Hamas-run Health Ministry initially said 500 had died, then revised that number to 471, without providing a list of names. The death toll has been in dispute, even among Palestinians. (May that tangible version never go away. The Associated Press has not independently verified any of the claims or evidence released by the parties.Īl-Ahli hospital was crowded with victims from 10 days of Israeli airstrikes, as well as families and others who had taken refuge on its grounds, when Tuesday’s blast occurred. Lol while I love the online feature I also still enjoy reading the tangible paper copy. In my case, I could have the newspaper read to me why apply my make up or brush my teeth. That is good for busy people or those who are a little visual challenged. I also love that if you are busy doing something and you want to read the paper and yet don’t have time to devote only to reading to the paper, you can actually have a newspaper read to you by the app. This easy to use what do you want to turn the page as if it were a real periodical, or if you want to skip to the right and in the section. I like that you have the overall view of how that days cage is laid out and you can either zoom in an article you want to click on it and it will go directly to a much larger version of that particular article. I love that you can read the newspaper online as a digital version or as if you had the print version right in front of you. I am a new subscriber to the Wall Street Journal. May “real” print editions live forever, but the Journal’s e-edition comes as close to the real thing as you can get. It is user-friendly and offers the reader access to the entire print addition, advertisements, Pepper & Salt, and all! We still have the print edition delivered to the house, but now my wife and I can read the Journal at the same time and even tell each other to look at page whatever for a good article. It’s layout seems infinitely adjustable to the reader’s needs, and combines the ability to see the entire page in one window with the ability to focus in on a single article. Then came the Journal’s version and I was, if not converted, pleased that it gave me the options I needed to feel at home with an e-edition newspaper. I not only missed the “feel” of the real thing, but I found them to be user-unfriendly and difficult to “flip through,” as I like to do. This is written by someone who has had a morning newspaper on his breakfast table for nearly 60 years and whose experience with e-editions has ranged from disappointed to disgusted. Thank you for listening to those of us that prefer the format of the print edition with the obvious benefits of digital delivery (especially when traveling to locations where finding a print edition is very difficult - I’m looking at you Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada).Ī Skeptic’s Take on the WSJ “ Print E-Edition ![]() And now the Print Edition app! Apparently, I wasn’t the only person that craved the print edition as an app. I thought it was a significant improvement recently when I signed up for the email that provided the pdf version of the print edition. And, I like to see who is running advertisements in the print edition. You see, the way the print edition is formatted - the size of a headline font, the location (above or below the fold), even how many columns are devoted to a story - provides key information about the significance of the article in the eyes of the editors. But, I’ve never really liked the digital version. I have had a combination digital and print subscription for years. We were even tested to ensure we knew where in the paper information appeared and on which day certain columns ran. I’ve been a loyal reader of the WSJ since my MBA Economics professor made it required reading over 25 years ago.
